Ruble purchases down in Kazakhstan

Volume of net sale of Russian rubles in Kazakhstan amounted to 242.5 billion tenge in January-May 2019, which is 22.3 percent less than in the same period of the last year, Trend reports with reference to Ranking.kz

The leaders by the volume of sale are regions on the border with Russia. Thus, East Kazakhstan region is leading with the indicator of 37.8 billion tenge, which is 10 percent more than in the same period of the last year.

It is followed by Kostanay and Pavlodar regions with the indicators of 26.8 billion tenge and 26.3 billion tenge respectively. Compared to the same period of the last year, the volume of net sale of rubles in the reporting period decreased by three percent in Kostanay region and increased by 3.4 percent in Pavlodar region.

In turn, the lowest volume of net sale is observed in Shymkent city (3.5 billion tenge), Almaty region (2.1 billion tenge) and Zhambyl region (1.5 billion tenge).

Furthermore, in Turkestan and Kyzylorda regions, the volume of ruble purchases prevailed over sale volume.

The volume of net sale of Russian rubles in May alone amounted to 59 billion tenge, which is 12.9 percent more than in April and 4.4 percent less than in May 2018.
