Iran-Iraq trade turnover can reach $20B

The active interaction of Iranian and Iraqi businessmen and the overall development of Iranian-Iraqi economic relations can facilitate the growth of mutual trade turnover to $20 billion, Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Abdolnaser Hemmati posted on his Instagram page, Trend reports.

According to him, the development of monetary and financial relations between the two countries will also help to achieve the $20 billion mark in the near future.

He added that he held talks with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Fuad Hussein as part of discussions between senior Iranian and Iraqi officials.

Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi and his accompanying delegation arrived in Iran on July 22.

In last Iranian year, from March 21, 2018 to March 20, 2019, Iran's exports to Iraq amounted to $8.96 billion, while Iraq's exports to Iran amounted to $59 million. The trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $9.02 billion.

From March 21, 2019 to April 21, 2019, Iran's exports to Iraq amounted to $389 million, while Iraq's exports to Iran amounted to $6 million. The trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $394 million.
