Georgia postpones production of locally manufactured bicycles, said Head of the Georgian Bicycle Group company Beka Kiknavelidze, Trend reports with reference to commersant.ge.
The implementation of the project for the local production of the bicycles was to start from April 2019, but this has been suspended due to macroeconomic problems in the country.
Currently, the Georgian Bicycle Group, which is a subsidiary of Bikes.ge, is engaged in domestic sales of the bicycles imported by the parent company from Germany and Slovakia. It plans to expand its retail network in addition to the shop in Tbilisi located in the Waca district.
According to Kiknavelidze, since the devaluation of the lari in the country, the banking rules became stricter, while banks become more cautious when working with customers. Therefore, the company decided to develop a new project on providing bicycle rental services to be jointly implemented with travel agencies.
Georgian Bicycle Group has produced bicycles locally, although in small batches. The company appeared in the Georgian market relatively recently, about a year ago.
