Tax debts worth over $2M paid in Kazakhstan

Some 47,318 tax payers in Kazakhstan paid 913.4 million tenge of tax (approximately $2.363 million), Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan Zhaidar Inkerbayev said, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the committee.

According to the law, the condition for penalty write-off is the full payment of the main debt, and some 287.8 million tenge worth of penalty has been written-off from physical persons in Kazakhstan.

As Inkerbayev stated, there are citizens among those who took advantage of tax amnesty, the penalty value of which has exceeded the existing debt. The value of the main debt amounted to 251,000 tenge, whereas the penalty value exceeded 310,000 tenge. As a result of full debt payment, the penalty has been written-off in its entirety.

The rules for conducting tax amnesty have been registered by the Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan within the framework of the law, signed by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on July 4, 2019. The rules have entered into force starting from August 13, 2019.

As of January 1, 2019, 1.4 million physical persons in Kazakhstan had tax debt worth 20.9 billion tenge, including 14.3 billion tenge of the main debt and 6.6 billion tenge of the penalty.
