One of the main priorities for the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia in 2020 is the privatization process of state property and the goal is to increase the privatization income in the state budget, said the Georgian Minister of Economy Natia Turnava, Trend reports, referring to the ministry's statement.
Turnava said that privatization is important for increasing employment and noted that there are many buildings, factories and other constructions, especially in the regions which should be bought by businesses and be privatized.
The goal of activating the privatization process is to involve more state property, state assets into the economy and accelerate economic growth.
“This year we had planned to privatize 60 million lari ($20.15 million/18.45 million euro) and this plan has already been carried out”, said the minister.
As of today, income from privatization in the Georgian budget amounted to 73 million lari ($24.52 million/ 22.45 million euro) and it will increase up to 100 million lari ($33.59 million/30.57 million euro) until the end of this year.
