Georgian insurance sector profit declines

Profit of the Georgian insurance sector declined, Trend reports with with reference to Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia.

The reduction compared to the same period in 2018 amounted to 900,000 lari ($303,548).

At the same time, such indicators as assets of the insurance sector, capital, and the volume of premiums increased. In particular, the premium amounted to 481.8 million lari ($162.4 milliom), assets - to 839.9 million lari ($283.2 million), and capital - to 245 million lari ($82.6 million).

The leaders in terms of premiums are JSC Insurance Company Aj Holding - 81.8 million lari ($27.5 million), JSC Insurance Company Aldagi - 77.7 million lari ($26.2 million), JSC Insurance Company Imedi L - 70.6 million lari ($23.8 million), JSC TBC Insurance - 59.3 million lari ($20 million), and JSC ARDI Insurance - 42.2 million lari ($14.2 million).

In terms of the amount of compensation paid, JSC Insurance Company Unison with 190 million lari ($64 million) ranks the first, followed by JSC Insurance Company GPI Holding with 52.9 million lari ($17.8 million), JSC Insurance Company Imedi L with 41.5 million lari ($13.9 million), JSC International Insurance Company IRAO with 23.3 million lari ($7.8 million), and JSC ARDI Insurance with 21.1 million lari ($7.1 million).

In terms of premiums attracted to health insurance, JSC Insurance Company Imedi L (62.1 million lari/$20.9 million), which occupies 34 percent of the entire market, leads. Then comes the JSC Insurance Company GPI Holding (42.5 million lari/$14.3 million), and JSC ARDI Insurance (25.7 million lari/$8.6 million).
