State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan talks on projects financed in 2019

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 5

One of the projects which is implemented through the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) are the measures to improve the social and living conditions of refugees and internally displaced people, which originate since 2001, SOFAZ Executive Director Israfil Mammadov told Trend on March 5.

“Some 2.5 million manat [$2.7 million] was allocated to finance them in 2001-2019,” the executive director said. “In 2019, 200 million manat [$117 million] was allocated for implementation of these measures.”

"Over the past 19 years, a lot of work has been carried out,” SOFAZ executive director added. "Seventy-two settlements with private buildings, as well as 22 districts with multi-storey buildings were created. As a result, 36,752 families were provided with comfortable housing.”

“Moreover, 83 schools, five hospitals, kindergartens, medical points, administrative buildings and other facilities including 53 communication centers, 803 kilometers of highways, 1,794 kilometers of power lines, 503 kilometers of gas pipelines and other communication lines, as well as a number of smaller facilities used for economic purposes were put into operation," Mammadov said.

“The abovementioned measures helped to greatly improve the quality of life of representatives of the most socially vulnerable layers of the population - the refugees and internally displaced people,” Mammadov added.
