Payment card turnover considerably grows in Azerbaijan

The payment card turnover through ATMs and POS terminals in Azerbaijan amounted to 2.2 billion manat ($1.3 billion) in February 2020, which is 43.7 percent more than in February 2019, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani Central Bank (CBA).

According to the CBA report, total number of transactions with payment cards amounted to 16 million transactions (an increase of 48.5 percent) worth 2.2 billion manat for the reporting period.

Some 1.7 million transactions worth 116 million manat ($68.2 million) were carried out outside the country.

The number of transactions with debit cards (both domestically and abroad) exceeded 13.8 million transactions worth 2 million manat ($1.2 million), of which 6.5 million transactions worth 1.5 million manat ($930,000) were carried out using ATMs in Azerbaijan, and over 2.0 million operations worth 148,000 manat ($87,000 ) via POS terminals.

In February 2020, bank customers carried out 2.2 million transactions worth 147 million manat ($86.4 million) via credit cards (both domestically and abroad).

Some 248,000 operations worth 44 million manat ($25.8 million) were carried out using ATMs within the country, and 944,000 operations worth 49 million manat ($28.8 million) were carried out using POS terminals in the country.
