Insurance payments on mandatory vehicles insurance in Kazakhstan revealed

The number of registered cars in Kazakhstan amounted to 149,938 vehicles during the first two months of 2020, which is 2.5 percent more than during the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

As of Mar. 1, 2020, total number of passenger cars registered in Kazakhstan amounted to 3.8 million.

The committee noted that 83.4 percent of registered cars work on gasoline. Some 12.7 percent of the cars - on mixed fuel, 2.7 percent on diesel fuel and 0.2 percent on LPG.

The number of registered car accidents amounted to 1,893 cases over the course of first two months of 2020, which is 6.1 percent more than during the same period of 2019. Some 2,666 people were injured in these accidents.

As of Mar. 1, 2020, insurance companies made 13,618 payments worth 5.4 billion tenge (approximately $12.6 million) on Compulsory Civil Liability Insurance of Vehicle Owners.

By a decree of Kazakhstan's President Kassym Jomart Tokayev, as a result of the spreading coronavirus pandemic, quarantine regime has been introduced in a number of Kazakh cities and regions, thus restricting transportation and use of personal vehicles.

Due to the introduced restrictions the number of car accidents has significantly decreased all across the country.
