BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 12

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Russia increased by 2.7 times during 1H2020, compared to the same period of 2019, said Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Alexander Blokhin during the briefing, Trend reports with reference to Online Newspaper of the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan.

The ambassador also noted that the trade turnover between countries increased by 1.5 times and amounted to $695 million in 2019, but taking into account the supply of Turkmen gas to Russia, then mentioned amount reaches $1 billion.

Russian ambassador also noted that growth of trade turnover is provided due to the regular conclusion of new projects between the countries. As an example of the countries’ cooperation the ambassador highlighted the supply of spare car parts of Russia’s Tatarstan KAMAZ company to Turkmenistan.

We have all-around good relations, including in economic sphere, and in particular in the gas sector, said the ambassador.

In terms of gas sector, Turkmenistan's partnership with Russia on the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline was noted.

"We are ready to supply pipes and equipment for this project and we have already started to do it. For example, a Russian company supplied 90 percent of large-diameter pipes to the Turkmen TAPI section," added he.

The continuous purchase of gas from Turkmenistan’s Turkmengas State Concern by Russia’s Gazprom PJSC was noted.

Thus, the ambassador expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the efforts made by country to maintain the level of strategic partnership between the two countries.

"I would assess today's relations with Turkmenistan as being at the highest level, at least during my stay here," Blokhin said.
