Assets of Uzbek banks in 1H2020 increase

Total number of domestic banks operating in Uzbekistan stood at 30 as of August 1,2020, including 13 banks with state participation share and 17 private banks, Trend reports with reference to the review of Uzbek Portfolio Investments company.

The total volume of the bank assets increased by 23.4 percent in the first half of 2020, compared with the same period of 2019, and amounted to $29.9 billion.

Financial analysts of the Portfolio Investments company conducted analysis on the basis of published reports of 25 commercial banks for the first half of 2020.

The biggest volume of assets is observed at Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank (Uzpromstroybank) - $4.4 billion and Asaka Bank - $3.7 billion.

The most dynamic growth of assets is observed at Microcreditbank (88.5 percent). The only bank that recorded a slight decrease in assets is JSB Madad Invest Bank (a decrease of two percent).

The total amount of equity capital increased by 68.7 percent in the first half of 2020, compared to the corresponding period of 2019, and amounted to $3.4 billion.

The largest banks in terms of equity are Uzpromstroybank - $654 million, Bank - $614 million and Agrobank - $455 million.

The most significant equity growth was at Agrobank (six percent). Uzpromstroybank was the leader in terms of net profit for the first half of 2020 ($38.5 million).

The best positive dynamics of net profit was shown by Mikrokreditbank (843 percent), Asaka Bank (340 percent) and Poytaxt Bank (266 percent).
