Wages, pensions to be raised in Turkmenistan

Wages, pensions, state benefits and scholarships will be increased in Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

The relevant decree was signed by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

According to the decree, the monthly salary of employees of budget-funded institutions, self-supporting enterprises and public associations, pensions and state benefits, as well as scholarships will be increased by 10 percent from January 1, 2021.

The minimum size of pensions of participants of the Great Patriotic War will be 1,557 Turkmen manat per month (over $445), the minimum size of pensions for the spouses of participants of the Great Patriotic War will be 457 manat per month (over $130), the base amount for determining the minimum pension - 372 manat (over $106), and the base amount for calculating state benefits - 354 manat (over $101).

Thus, the minimum wage will be 957 manat (over $273).

As reported, the average monthly salary within large and medium-sized enterprises is 10.4 percent higher from January through September of this year than in the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, over the same period, the GDP growth rate in Turkmenistan was 5.8 percent.
