Azerbaijan reveals income from chargeable services for 9M2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 19

Income from chargeable services provided to the population of Azerbaijan dropped by 25.7 percent from January through September 2020, compared to the same period of 2019 and equaled 4.93 billion manat ($2.9 billion), Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the committee, in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection as a result of restrictions on the travel of citizens between districts and cities of the country, in March, April, May, June, July, and August of this year, serious reductions in passenger traffic were observed.

“Carriers served 931.7 million passengers in the reporting period. As much as 92.1 percent of passengers were transported by road, 7.7 percent - by metro, and the rest - by other types of vehicle,” the committee noted.

Meanwhile, legal entities provided 3.37 billion manat ($1.98 billion) worth of services to the population, which is 75.8 percent of the total cost of services, the report added.

According to the report, the total cost of chargeable services provided by state enterprises during the first nine months of 2020 was 1.14 billion manat ($670.5 million), and by private structures - 3.79 billion manat ($2.22 billion).

From January through September of this year, each citizen of Azerbaijan, on average, used various chargeable services worth 495.1 manat ($291.2), which is 169.1 manat ($99.4) in nominal terms less compared to the same period of last year, the committee added.
