Uzbekistan expects GDP to grow in 2021

The government of Uzbekistan expects the country's economy to grow by 5 percent in 2021 compared to 2020, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Finance.

This is stated in the commentary of the Ministry of Finance to the draft law "On the state budget of Uzbekistan for 2021".

It was noted that industrial production growth in 2021 is expected at 5.8 percent, agriculture - 2.7 percent, and services rendered - 6.4 percent.

The document emphasizes that inflation in the country will decline and in 2021 it will reach the level of 10 percent.

Earlier it was reported that the growth of the GDP of Uzbekistan from January through September 2020 amounted to 0.4 percent against 5.9 percent in the same period of 2019.

In addition, Uzbekistan plans to attract $5.5 billion of external and internal borrowings in 2021.

The volume of external borrowings next year will amount to $5 billion and internal borrowings will amount to $0.5 billion.

Funds in the amount of $2.2 billion will be used to finance the state budget deficit and $3.3 billion will be used for investment projects financing.
