Azerbaijan records most household loans issued in national currency

The volume of lending to the household sector in Azerbaijan as of early November 2020 made up 6.76 billion manat ($3.9 billion), growing by 5.2 percent (334 million manat or $196.4 million) over the year, Trend reports referring to the statistical bulletin of the Azerbaijani Central Bank (CBA).

At the same time, the above figure is 3.4 percent (240 million manat or $141.2 million) less than in early 2020.

Some 986.8 million manat ($580.4 million), or 14.6 percent of the household lending fell on short-term loans, of which 796.1 million manat ($468.3 million) were issued in national currency, and 190.6 million manat ($112.1 million) - in foreign one.

Some 5.5 billion manat ($3.2 billion), or 81.9 percent, accounted for long-term loans, which is by 42.8 million manat ($25.2 million), or 0.8 percent more than as of early November last year. Loans worth 5.2 billion manat ($3 billion) were issued in national currency, and 334.2 million manat ($196.6 million) fell on foreign currency.

Household lending operations were mainly carried out in the national currency. Totally, operations carried out in national currency amounted to 88.7 percent (6 billion manat or $3.5 billion) of the total amount of lending to the household sector.

The share of lending to households in lending to the real sector amounted to 45.8 percent, having grown by 1.3 percentage points over the year.
