The number of client accounts in Azerbaijani banks as of early December 2020 amounted to more than 21.2 million, up by 11.2 percent compared to the same period in 2019, Trend reports referring to the statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to the CBA, a significant part (85.5 percent) in the structure of client accounts fell on current accounts in the amount of 18.145 million units, and this is 14 percent more than by the early December 2019. In the structure of current accounts, almost all of them belonged to individuals (17.9 million).
Loan accounts with the share of 12.8 percent in the structure of client accounts amounted to 2.72 million as of December 1, 2020, and deposit accounts made up 1.7 percent, or about 355,000.
The number of bank customers as of early December 2020, having grown by 13 percent, amounted to 8.98 million. Of these, more than 8.8 million were individuals.
There are 26 banks functioning in Azerbaijan, two of which are state-owned and 24 are private.
