Iran’s CBI reveals amount of funds provided for import of essential products

The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has provided funds worth $8.74 billion for the import of essential products since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to the Feb.2, Trend reports citing the CBI.

According to the report, these funds were provided at the Iranian official exchange rate ($1=42,000 rials). The imported goods were corn, oilseeds, raw cooking oil, compressed soybeans, barley, wheat, medicines and medical equipment.

“So, $1.98 billion was provided for corn, $405 million for barley, $910 million for oilseeds and $1.2 billion for raw cooking oil,” the report said.

In addition, $990 million was provided for compressed soybeans, $677 million for wheat, $40 million for fertilizer, $36 million for paper, $1.1 billion for medical equipment and supplies, and $1.39 billion for medicines, the report said.

However, the Iranian government plans to import $8 billion worth of goods in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021) at the Iranian official exchange rate. Of this amount, $5.5 billion is to be for import of corn, oilseeds, raw cooking oil, compressed soybeans, barley and wheat, and $1.5 billion for medical equipment.
