Kazakhstan presents National Development Plan until 2025

Kazakh Minister of National Economy Aset Irgaliyev presented the National Development Plan of the country until 2025, approved on February 26, 2021 upon a decree of the president, at a briefing at the Central Communications Service on March 17, Trend reports with reference to the ministry.

The document reflects a strategic vision for the development of the most important sectors and guidelines for improving key policies aimed at leveling the consequences of the coronavirus crisis and ensuring sustainable, inclusive and high-quality economic development.

The national plan is aimed at the further development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), ensuring the healthy competitive environment, reducing the state's share in competitive sectors and developing production with high added value in the manufacturing industry.

Seven big ecosystems for the production and processing of agricultural products with the involvement of 350,000 farmers and households will be created in the agro-industrial complex. The volume of gross agricultural production will increase by 1.3 times. All these measures are aimed at ensuring the country's food security.

The work will continue on the digitalization of economic sectors, the introduction of elements of artificial intelligence and Big Data. Some 99 percent of the country's population will have access to high-quality internet. All regional centers and cities having significance will be covered by high-speed 5G internet.

The efforts of the state will be aimed at the introduction of "green technologies", the development of the domestic scientific, technological and innovation base. The share of tourism will be increased to eight percent of GDP.

"A proactive and targeted attraction of investments, as well as the promotion of Kazakhstan’s export will be the most important priority in foreign economic policy," Irgaliyev added.

By 2025, it is planned to bring the volume of foreign direct investments up to $30 billion. This will ensure the level of investments in fixed assets at the level of 30 percent by 2025, which is comparable to the most dynamically growing economies in the world.

"Ensuring of balanced territorial development of the country will be the most important priority of the work,” Irgaliyev said at an online briefing in the Central Communications Service.

“New approaches to the development of regions will be aimed at revealing the potential and strengthening the competitiveness of their socio-economic systems. More than 3,500 villages will be modernized in accordance with new regional standards. All residents of the country will have the access to the services. Strengthening the territorial and economic integrity of the country will increase the mobility of the population and business.”

Irgaliyev stressed that the measure of progress in the implementation of the tasks of the National Plan is the Map of Strategic Indicators until 2025. The map includes a list of 41 indicators in three spheres, structured by sectors, regions.
