Uzbekistan and Poland discussed the attraction of credit lines of Polish banks without providing a sovereign guarantee for financing joint investment projects in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to Dunyo news agency.

The delegation of Uzbekistan, which is in Poland on a visit, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sherzod Asadov, held meetings with the leadership of the Polish banks BGK and PEKAO.

During the talks, the Polish side was informed about the deep economic reforms and transformations in the banking and financial sector being carried out in Uzbekistan, as well as the positive dynamics in the development of Uzbek-Polish cooperation in the trade and economic sphere.

The parties discussed prospects for attracting credit lines from Polish banks without providing a sovereign guarantee for financing joint investment projects in Uzbekistan and export-import operations.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed on organizing a video conference with interested commercial banks, as well as with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan to discuss opportunities for cooperation.

RECAO is the second largest commercial bank in Poland with $49 billion in assets. Privatized in 1998, it became the first bank to introduce ATMs and credit cards in Poland.

BGK is the state bank of Poland, founded in 1924. Its main task is to support small and medium-sized businesses in Poland, assist in co-financing Polish projects abroad, and stimulate exports.
