Georgia sees decrease in external debt

Georgia's external debt went down by $104.881 million in March 2021, year-on-year and amounted to $7.720 billion, Trend reports via Georgian Ministry of Finance.

Foreign liabilities increased by $2.032 billion, compared with the same period of last year ($5.688 billion).

As of March 2021, the government's external liabilities amounted to $7.353 billion, while those of National Bank amounted to $367 million.

The country has obligations arising from the sale of international organizations, bilateral creditor states and government securities.

Georgia’s largest creditors are Asian Development Bank (ADB); World Bank International Development Association (IDA) and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). In particular, the debt to IDA totals $886.577 million; the external debt to the IBRD reaches $1.144 billion, to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) the debt exceeds $1.730 billion.
