Kazakhstan’s National Bank makes decision on base rate

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr. 26

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Kazakhstan’s National Bank has kept the base rate at an annual 9 percent, Trend reports citing the Bank.

The percentage corridor was set and plus-minus 1 percentage point.

Thus, the rate on standing access operations to provide liquidity is 10 percent and on standing access operations to withdraw liquidity is 8 percent.

The decision was conditioned by the persistence of the effect of pro-inflationary factors, despite the deceleration of actual inflation. Risks of rising prices are associated with rising electricity tariffs, higher gasoline prices, clarification of state budget parameters, continued external prices, accelerated inflation in trading partner countries, and an increased likelihood of value increases due to COVID-19 vaccination.

In the domestic sector, there are signs of rising incomes of the population, the Bank said.

The next time the National Bank makes a decision of the base rate will be June 7, 2021.
