Exchange prices for technical cotton seeds at the Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange (UZEX) for the period from May 6 to 12 decreased by 31.2 percent, Trend reports referring to UZEX.
According to UZEX, the prices for technical cotton seeds as of May 12 averaged 3,403 soums ($0.32) per ton.
During the period under review, 7,961 tons of cotton seeds were put up for exchange trading by selling enterprises, of which 5,903 tons, or 74.1 percent, were sold.
It is noted that the decrease in the exchange prices for technical cotton seeds was positively influenced by the decrease in their starting prices on the part of the selling enterprises, i.e. cotton and textile clusters.
In particular, over the past period, cotton and textile clusters have reduced starting prices for cotton seeds by an average of 38.7 percent, from 4,781 soums ($0.45) to 2,933 soums ($0.28) per ton.
Subsequently, the decline in exchange prices for technical cotton seeds, the starting price, and exchange prices for cottonseed oil also declined.
Thus, over the past period, the starting cost of cottonseed oil decreased by 5.3 percent, and the prices formed based on the results of exchange trading decreased by 11.3 percent, respectively, and as of May 12 amounted to 14,739 soums ($1.4) per ton.
