Iranian banks issue big loans in services sector

Iranian banks issued loans worth 7.44 quadrillion rials (about $177 billion) in the services sector over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Trend reports citing the statistics of Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, 791 trillion rials (about $18.8 billion) worth of loans were issued for the establishment of enterprises and facilities in the services sector of Iran over the reporting period.

“Moreover, the Iranian banks issued loans worth 4.54 quadrillion rials (about $108 billion) as working capital in the services sector within the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

At the same time, the loans worth 131 trillion rials (about $3.13 billion) were issued for repair work and 1.37 quadrillion rials (about $32.6 billion) for development in the services sector, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, the Iranian banks issued loans worth 37.5 trillion rials (about $892 million) for the purchase of personal assets, 40.5 trillion rials (about $964 million) for the purchase of housing, and 531 trillion rials (about $12.6 billion) for the other purposes in the services sector.

Iranian banks issued loans worth about 19 quadrillion rials (about $452 billion) in various economic sectors in the last Iranian year. This an increase of 94.8 percent, compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020).
