Azerbaijani banks expand mortgage lending

Azerbaijani banks issued mortgage loans worth 35.8 million manat ($21.05 million) in May 2021, which is by 4.2 times more than in May 2020, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, mortgage loans issued by banks in the amount of 27.4 million manat ($16.1 million) were refinanced in May.

The average monthly amount of loans issued by authorized banks of the Mortgage and Credit Guarantee Fund amounted to 54.1 million manat $31.8 million (51.6 million manat $30.3 million in May 2020), which is the highest indicator for the entire period of its work.

The average maturity of loans was 282 months, increasing by one month compared to May 2020.

The average annual interest rate was 6.33 percent compared to 6.42 percent a year earlier while the average monthly payment was 378.6 manat $222.7 (360.8 manat $212.2 in May 2020).
