EBRD names date of approval of loan for waste management project in Azerbaijan's Ganja

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plans to approve a loan to Azerbaijan to modernize the infrastructure for the collection of solid household waste (waste collection vehicles and garbage containers) in the city of Ganja, Trend reports referring to a source in the bank.

According to the source, the planned loan amount reaches 10 million euro.

The borrower is Azerbaijan, represented by the Ministry of Finance, and the executive body is the Association of Housing and Communal Services under the Executive Power of the Ganja city.

The loan approval is scheduled for September 14, 2021.

The project reportedly includes operational and financial efficiency improvements. Its main goal is to improve the services for the collection of household waste in Ganja in terms of environmental standards.

It will allow improve the quality of household waste management and reduce their negative impact on the environment. It has already been conceptually tested and is pending final review.

The EBRD is a leading investor in Azerbaijan, and so far has invested about 3.3 billion euro in various fields: energy, infrastructure, banking, industry and trade. Besides, the bank provides advisory services to small and medium-sized businesses.
