Kazakhstan has identified the main approaches to the development of Concept for the management of public and quasi-public debt, Kazakh Finance Minister Yerulan Zhamaubayev said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
Zhamaubayev made the statement during the governmental meeting held on September 2 presenting the measures to ensure the immediate execution of the President's orders.
On July 10, 2021, following an expanded meeting of the Government, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym Jomart Tokayev has instructed to develop a Concept for the management of public and quasi-public debt.
In this regard, measures to develop the Concept for Public Finance Management will be coordinated taking into account the work already carried out by state bodies.
It is proposed to define the following measures as the main approaches of the Concept:
- gradual reduction of the budget deficit to limit the growth of public debt and maintain it at a safe level;
- establishment of key indicators of debt sustainability;
- careful selection of projects to achieve maximum economic effect, etc.
