The volume of international reserves of the National Bank of Georgia increased in August by $185 million compared to the same period last year and by $244 million compared to July 2021 to $4.117 billion, Trend reports citing the National Bank of Georgia.
More than half of the reserves are securities worth $2.419 billion and cash deposits worth $1.208 billion.
Reserves peaked at $4.153 billion in May this year, declined slightly from June through July, and increased again in August. On September 7, it became known that the IMF allocated $ 286 million to Georgia, which will further increase the volume of reserves.
In 2020, the National Bank had to sell $870 million to maintain the exchange rate, although, over the same period, international reserves increased by $400 million to $3.910 billion through international aid.
