Auto insurance remains second-largest segment in Georgia - State Insurance Supervision Service

There are more than 1.2 million registered cars in Georgia, only 98,594 of them or 7 percent have insurance policies, Trend reports via the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia.

According to the insurance market report, auto insurance is the second-largest segment after health insurance. In the first half of 2021, a total of 74.5 million lari ($23.9 million) was attracted in this direction, which is only 15.5 million lari ($4.9 million) more than the 2020 result.

The number of insured cars has increased by 6,000 compared to the previous year.

As for the average cost of a car insurance premium, it averages 125.92 lari ($40.52) per month. Compared to the previous year, the average monthly value of the insurance premium has increased by about 20 lari - the statistics do not clearly show what is the main driver of this growth.

According to the attracted premiums, Aldagi owns 22 percent of the auto insurance market, 16 percent TBC Insurance, 15 percent GPI Insurance, 11 percent New Vision Insurance, 6 percent IRAO, and 25 percent other market players.
