The banking sector of Uzbekistan received $362.2 million in net profit from January through August of 2021, which is almost 12 percent more than in the same period of last year, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
More than half of this amount ($193.7 million) was earned by five banks with the largest volume of assets (over $2.8 billion): National Bank, Uzpromstroybank, Asakabank, Agrobank and Ipoteka Bank.
The biggest share of the revenue of Uzbek banking sector was formed by interest income which was $2.8 billion.
As a result, the interest margin was $982.7 million which is 17.7 percent more than in first eight months of 2020.
Uzbek banks' cumulative interest-free income reached $1.1 billion. Total non-interest income reached nearly $233.9 million which 4.6 times higher than last year.
Assessment of potential losses on loans and leasing reached $725.3 million which is 55.8 percent more than in the same period of 2020.
