The number of client accounts in banks increased by 4.4 million or 20.9 percent from more than 20.7 million accounts to 25.1 million accounts in Azerbaijan from January through October 2021 compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
The biggest part (84.5 percent) in the structure of client accounts consists of current accounts - 21.2 million from January through October 2021 compared to 17.8 million in the same period of last year (an increase of 3.4 million or 19.1 percent). Almost all current accounts belonged to individuals - about 20.9 million.
The number of credit accounts, making up 14.4 percent in the structure of client accounts, increased by 930,000 or 34.4 percent from 2.6 million to 3.6 million compared to the same period of last year, while deposit accounts made up 1 percent or 248,237 (211,337 a year earlier).
Moreover, the number of bank clients increased (by 2.5 million / 28.9 percent) - from 8.8 million to 11.4 million from January through October 2021 compared to the same period of last year, of which 20.9 million - individuals, 292,155 - legal entities.
Presently, there are 26 banks in Azerbaijan, two of which are state-owned banks and 24 private banks.
