Iran records growth in inflation rate

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 23. The monthly inflation rate in Iran increased by 52.2 percent, in the 5th month of the current Iranian year (July 23 through August 22, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of the Statistical Center of Iran.

The statistics show that families spent an average of 52.2 percent more on products and services in the 5th month of the current Iranian year compared to the same month last Iranian year.

The monthly increase in prices of food, soft drinks, and tobacco products in Iran was 80.4 percent in the fifth month, while in the non-food and services sector was 36.9 percent, according to the statistics.

At the same time, the monthly inflation rate in Iran for the 5th month decreased by 1.8 percent, compared to the 4th month of the current Iranian year (June 21 through July 22, 2022).

Within the 5th month, the monthly inflation rate in Iranian cities was 51.1 percent. This is 1.7 percent less than in the 4th month.

Meanwhile, in villages in Iran, the monthly inflation rate was 58.4 percent for the fifth month. This is a decrease of 2.3 percent compared to the 4th month.

Whereas, the annual inflation rate in the country (August 23, 2021 through August 22, 2022) was 41.5 percent. This is an increase of 1 percent compared to the previous period (August 22, 2020, through August 22, 2021).

At the end of the 5th month of the current Iranian year, the annual inflation rate was 40.9 percent in Iranian cities, while - 44.4 percent in villages. This shows an increase of 0.9 percent in cities and 1.2 percent in villages, compared to the previous period.
