BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. The value of the gross domestic product (GDP) in Iran’s oil-gas sector increased by 9.34 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Trend reports.
According to the statistics, the value of GDP in the oil-gas sector for last year amounted to 1.13 quadrillion rials (about $26.9 billion).
Meanwhile, the figure stood at 1.05 quadrillion rials (about $25.1 billion) in the preceding Iranian year.
At the same time, the share of the oil-gas sector in Iran's GDP for the last Iranian year was 14 percent.
In total, the value of Iran’s GDP (including crude oil) amounted to 8.12 quadrillion rials (about $193 billion), over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 3.72 percent compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
So, the figure stood at about 7.75 quadrillion rials (about $184 billion) in the preceding Iranian year.
The Central Bank of Iran, in its statistics on Iran's GDP in the preceding year, said that the value of GDP in the country was about 14.6 quadrillion rials (about $347 billion).
A new government came to power in Iran in August of 2021. After coming to power, the new government noted that certain figures were exaggerated during the previous government's period (2017-2021). As a result, a significant change in GDP value was recorded.
Both the Central Bank of Iran and the Statistical Center of Iran provide statistics on GDP in the country, however, there is always a difference in the figures.
