BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 10. The new edition of Iran's Bahar Azadi gold coin was sold for around 324 million rials (about $7,702) on February 10, Trend reports.
On February 8, the coin was sold for approximately 326 million rials (about $7,761).
The previous edition of the coin was sold for 299 million rials (about $7,119) on February 10.
The two varieties of the new Bahar Azadi gold coin (varying in weight and pure gold content) are 1/4 and 1/2 Bahar Azadi gold coins.
The 1/2 coin is worth 179 million rials (about $4,261), while the 1/4 coin is sold for 111 million rials (about $2,642).
The price of one gram of 18-karat gold stood at 27.5 million rials (about $656) on February 10.
Note that the coins appeared in Iran following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979. The Central Bank of Iran issued the coins, making them available for wholesale and retail sales.
The old gold coins were minted between 1979 and 1991, following which the bank issued new ones.
