BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 11. Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov held a meeting with the First Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Jürgen Rigterink, Trend reports.

The sides exchanged views on projects envisioned to promote a green economy, cooperation towards transition to low-carbon solutions, and initiatives supporting the strengthening of public-private partnerships.

At the meeting, it was noted the holding of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan, our country's active participation in global climate action, and successful partnership with the EBRD in various directions. It was emphasized that the promotion of a green economy occupies an important place in the goals of the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan. During the meeting, steps to be taken to strengthen joint activities in the field of green economy, use of renewable and alternative energy sources, support of public-private partnerships, realization of infrastructure projects, and other areas were discussed. The importance of diversification of cooperation towards transition to low-carbon energy solutions was noted. Prospects of platforms that will strengthen the partnership between Azerbaijan and EBRD within COP29 were discussed.

First Vice President of the EBRD Jürgen Rigterink noted the Bank's effective cooperation with our country and the importance of the events held within COP29. According to him, Azerbaijan's rich economic potential creates prospects for expansion of relations, and the Bank's support for Azerbaijan will continue.

The parties exchanged views on the usefulness of Azerbaijan-EBRD relations for sustainable development and effective measures to combat climate change, as well as prospects for joint projects.
