Azerbaijani Communication Ministry to Complete People’s Computer Project Devising

Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 September / Trend corr. S.Babayeva/ Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication and IT is revising and changing the People's Computer project, which is intended to provide poor population with computers through long-term credits and low interest rates.

For the successful implementation of the project, a special working group consisting of specialist of several ministries, Intel and Microsoft companies has been established at the Ministry.

According to Ministry, all sides considered the draft project and decided to make some changes, which have not been divulged.

Minister did not forecast the time for completion of project devising.

Microsoft will provide authorized software and Intel will supply relevant hardware on preferential conditions.

By Communications Ministry's estimate, for every 100 people in Azerbaijan there are 3-4 computers provided. Should the project be successful, the number of computers will be increased 5 times.

The Ministry plans to launch the project as a pilot one in one of the country's regions by the end of the year.
