Over 80 percent of Azerbaijani automatic telephone exchanges overhauled

Over 80 percent of Azerbaijani automatic telephone exchanges have been overhauled and have been made electronic, Azerbaijani Deputy Communication Minister Elmir Valizade said.

"The overhaul is going on. We have changed over 80 percent of automatic telephone exchanges. We believe this process will complete by end of the year," Valizade said.

Under state program on overhaul and electronization of automatic telephone exchanges for 2009-2010, automatic telephone exchanges with numbers of 470, 471, 472, 474, 475, 476 and 423 will be overhauled at an early stage.

The afore-said automatic telephone exchanges are expected to be overhauled based on NGN (Next Generation Network) technology. Overhaul of telephone exchanges with capacity of 70,000 numbers will complete in coming two months. Baku Telephone Communication production unity will introduce NGN in telephone exchanges 438, 439, 493, 494, 495 and 498.
