Price cut on licensing software products to reduce piracy level in Azerbaijan: Copyright Agency

Copyright Agency of Azerbaijan and Microsoft Azerbaijan discussed the issue of cutting the price to license software products, head of the agency Kamran Imanov said to Trend .

Imanov said the price cut in the country will positively influence ton decreasing piracy. In this regard, the Agency attaches great importance to relations with the representation of Microsoft in Azerbaijan. The Agency developed a joint action plan in 2006, said Imanov.

Early 2009, the Agency and Microsoft Azerbaijan restores business relations again, and repeatedly during the meetings discussed various topics, including way out of this situation and decreasing piracy. Currently, a joint action plan has been developed by late 2009 and the relevant work is being conducted on this issue. As part of cooperation, the two companies held seminars to strengthen the fight against software piracy and the legitimate use of software. Under the action plant, the agency will continue to cooperate with Microsoft Azerbaijan. Cooperation includes workshops on combating piracy for the authorities, retailers and wholesale distributors (distributors) of computer products.

Training on "Piracy of software and measures to combat it" will be organized for government officials. The relevant measures will also be taken to ensure intellectual property rights, to study the legislation, to monitor the market, to strengthen the legal enlightenment and to improve a logistics center of Online Licensing and Intellectual Property Center at the agency.
