Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug.19 / Trend H.Valiyev /

The Azerbaijani Communication and Information Technologies Ministry will consider appeals from mobile phone operators on the issuing of licenses to provide mobile phone services under the new 3G standard, the Ministry said.

To develop the 'third generation' network operators must make their technology adequate to provide the new standard of service, the Ministry added. In order to do this it is necessary to upgrade the network's equipment and stations.

However, the operators themselves declare that the technology is ready for the transition to a new standard of communication and that they meet the requirements fully. To implement 3G standards operators are looking into LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology, which provides the technical possibility of creating high-speed wireless communication systems. These communication systems are optimal for packet data transmission at speeds of up to 300 Mbit / s for incoming data (from the station to the user) and up to 75 Mbit / s for outgoing data.

The introduction of LTE technology will allow operators to reduce capital and operating costs, reduce the sum cost of network ownership, expand their opportunities to merge services and technologies and increase the income from data services.

In fact, the transition to 3G networks in Azerbaijan will take place without any major changes and without any detriment to subscribers. The direct benefits of 3G technology includes the use of high-tech services such as mobile TV, video telephone, internet access, the sending and receiving of bulk content (files) etc.

Individuals in the cellular communication market are confident that the next two years will become the basis for 3G networks.
