The Aztelekom PU of the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry is working to eliminate accidents in a disaster zone caused by increased water levels in the Kur River, Aztelekom spokesman Vidadi Ismayilov said today.

He said about 15 kilometers of main fiber-optic lines in Shirvan have been flooded. However, despite this, breaks in connection have not been observed.

"The company has engaged three teams in resolving problems in the disaster zone. The same problem was observed in the Sabirabad region and nearby settlements. The amount of damage is not yet known, "he added.

The company's employees installed telephones and laid Internet lines to its headquarters in Shirvan. The operator also established a hotline in temporary settlement camps.

The disasters have not affected the CDMA base wireless station.
