Electronic money transfer system between Azerbaijan and Turkey was put into operation, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies told Trend July 20.

Exploitation of the service allows sending and receiving money at post offices of the Azerbaijani postal operator LLC Azerpoct.

The system of remittances can reduce costs and simultaneously expand its customer base in the sphere of remittances, which increases the efficiency of these operations.

Implementation of the electronic money transfer system between Azerbaijan and Turkey was raised in early 2008 for the first time, during the Turkish Post Office's representatives' visit to Azerbaijan.

Initially, due to the lack of security of the system, implementation of the project was postponed to indefinite date. Operations on the project were continued, and specialists conducted operations in order to secure the process of transactions.

Post transfers today remain the most common way to transfer money to physical entities. Azerpoct has a wide network of branches throughout the country and provides guaranteed services even in the country's most remote regions.

Postal operator includes more than 70 branches and over 1,600 of postal communication service providers throughout the country, which makes the operator competitive among financial institutions offering money transfer services.
