Russian mobile operator launches 3G technology in Turkmenistan

The Russian MTS mobile operator has launched 3G technology with HSPA + in Ashgabat.

The 3G network covers Ashgabat's central districts and international airport.

While located in the 3G coverage zone, MTS Turkmenistan users will be able to take advantage of high-speed Internet at a speed of up to 21 Mbps to subscribers and 11 Mbps from subscribers.

Users must have a phone with 3G support or a USB-modem and a 3G Internet connected service.

2G (GSM) + 3G (UMTS) must be turned on. Devices supporting 3G are automatically registered in the new network.

The tariffs on data transmission and voice calls in the 3G network are fixed in accordance with subscriber tariff plans. MTS Connect, Profi, Profi Corp and Corporate subscribers and Internet and Unlimited tarriff plan users will receive 3G Internet automatically and free of charge. 3G Internet will also soon be available to subscribers of other tariff plans.
