Azerbaijan approves rules for introduction and use of personal identification number

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 6 / Trend, H. Veliyev /

The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers has approved the rules for the imposition of the identification number in the personal data information systems.

The rules have been prepared in accordance with the law "On personal data" and regulate the procedures for introducing and using the identification number in the personal information systems.

A personal identification code, consisting of seven characters (a combination of letters and numbers), is issued to citizens. This allows for the identification of its holder's unique identity.
When the data is entered into the population state register, a personal identification number is issued to Azerbaijani citizens, stateless persons and foreigners who are permanently residing in the republic.

The following parameters are required to identify individuals: name, surname, date of birth (day, month, year), place of birth (country, region, city, settlement, village), biometric data, serial number and the ID number.

The citizens' identification code is automatically entered into the population state register, and simultaneously into other information systems.

A spreadsheet is regularly synchronized to ensure that information is immediately updated for citizens. The Identification number is used to retrieve the most pressing information about its holder, guarding against the possibility of re-collection of information, ensuring integration and synchronization between other information systems, and eliminating the need for maintaining additional documentation.
