The State Fund for Development of Information Technologies of Azerbaijan will raise requirements for those applying for a grant for the implementation of their IT projects, a source in Azerbaijan’s IT market told Trend Nov. 7.
Unfortunately, there are no qualitative start-ups on the Azerbaijani IT market yet, and the existing ones cannot be called perfect, according to the source.
“The issue of increasing the amount of grants has been raised more than once, and this is not acceptable given the current situation, since this would mean wasting public funds,” the source said. “The expense of funds allocated in the form of grants to project owners is controlled.”
These changes will also affect the selection of projects and it is possible that only five or six IT projects will receive grants, according to the source.
“Specific requirements will be put forward and only the projects that will prove their importance and prospects for development will receive the funds,” the source said.
