Over 40 percent of Azerbaijani population view TV content via satellite dishes

In 2016, 38 percent of the Azerbaijani population viewed TV content via satellite dishes, while 31.1 percent - through television antennas, the statistics survey for 2017 of the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said.

The number of connections via TV antennas decreased by 0.6 percent, while the number of connections via satellite dishes increased by 5 percent in 2016 compared to 2015.

During the reporting period, 55.8 percent of villagers viewed television content via satellite dishes, while the rest villagers viewed television content via TV antennas.

Meanwhile, 58.6 percent of the population, which used the cable operators’ services in 2016, was concentrated in big cities of the republic, which is 0.8 percent less than in 2015.

Moreover, 59.5 percent of the population accounted for cable TV users in Baku.

In 2016, the biggest number of cable TV users was observed on the Absheron peninsula - 53.4 percent (an increase of 0.18 percent compared to 2015).
