The Azerbaijani Copyright Agency is improving the DRM (Digital Rights Management) system based on blocking technology, Kamran Imanov, the chairman of the agency, told Trend.

Imanov said that the DRM system is already ready and has an extensive database. The DRM system will be used to identify copyright infringements in a virtual environment.

"Blockchain technology differs in that it distributes the database and allows all users and rights holders to participate in the DRM system. It actually returns collective management to the personal rights management mode, which is the best in copyright law," Imanov said.

Currently, more than 10,000 works of authorship are registered in the database, and about 2,000 works are registered in the folklore database. All objects of copyright (content) are digitized and have corresponding watermarks, which make it possible to distinguish the original from an illegal copy.

The system of copyright regulation online consists of several blocks. It stipulates the organization of identification and protection of content, rights management, which is necessary to recognize the legality of content and its search.

DRM technology will allow to fix copyright infringements and take appropriate measures for their suppression. This mechanism provides for the marking of copyright (content) objects with protective means (digital watermarks) and application of a unique codifier for their search.
