President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has instructed the National Academy of Sciences to develop the Digital Turkmenistan state program, the Altyn Asyr TV channel reported Feb. 10.
The main goal is encouragement of IT development and increase of its share in gross domestic product of the country, as well as the elimination of "digital disparity" in everyday life of residents of regions, cities and villages.
The program is intended to promote acceleration of switching of national economy to digital basis, increase employment level in science-heavy industries, implementation of cutting-edge technologies in manufacturing, full transition to electronic documentation and electronic personal identification system.
Turkmenistan possesses considerable facilities for development of digital infrastructure with use of telemedicine, computer and telecommunication technologies using additional electronic services to provide remote consultation and information, the report said.
