Uzbekistan will increase the capacity of its external internet channel to 1,200 Gbps by the end of 2018, Uzbek media reported on May 23 citing CEO of Uzbektelecom JSC Farhod Roziev as saying during the #MITCROADMAP2018 conference in Tashkent.

Roziyev reminded that the capacity of the country's external internet channel was 65 Gbps in May 2017, while currently it has already grown to 160 Gbps.

CEO noted that the company adopted a program of transformation until 2020, within the framework of which measures will be taken to increase the speed of the internet and localize international traffic.

The company also plans to introduce new formats of services. The head of Uzbektelecom emphasized that the company is planning to improve interaction with operators.

“We do not promise to immediately launch 20-30-50-Mbps internet in every apartment. This will take more time. But those will be “real” megabits, which will exist not only on paper, but in practice. We are planning to introduce new affordable prices, an updated package of services and the most simplified tariff logic,” Roziev said.
