Azerbaijan has discussed possible practical steps for cross-border exchange of electronic data between the EU and the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries, B.EST Solutions Company (operator of mobile e-signature Asan Imza) told Trend.

The issue was discussed at the conference on e-government entitled "Governance for Digital Citizens", which was held on May 29-30 in Estonia.

During the conference, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the E-government Development Center of Azerbaijan and the Estonian E-governance Academy. The purpose of the Memorandum is to strengthen cooperation between the parties in the field of e-government development and digitalization of public services.

Currently, Azerbaijan and Estonia are closely cooperating on the implementation of cross-border services based on the X-Road platform, as well as on the interaction of e-resident programs between the two countries. Azerbaijan was the first country to introduce an analogue of the Estonian X-Road platform. The platform has also been implemented in Finland, Ukraine, Mauritius, Namibia and other countries.

Experts of the conference also considered the possibility of creating cross-border e-services based on the X-Road platform between Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Estonia and Finland. Azerbaijan is the first country to implement the electronic and mobile residence project, which provides digital mobile and electronic identity for citizens of other countries for the purpose of doing business in the country.

During the conference, Azerbaijan also presented its innovative achievements, such as: the concept of "ASAN", mobile e-signature Asan Imza, e-government infrastructure and the digital trade hub Azerxport.
