Samsung mobile phones in Azerbaijan will be protected from cloning of IMEI codes, a source in the Information and Computing Center (ICT) of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan told Trend.
This is one of the areas of cooperation, which is stipulated in the memorandum signed by the ITC and Samsung Electronics last week.
“The technical aspect of fighting against the cloning of IMEI codes of mobile devices is still under discussion,” the source said. “In general, we are looking at this issue somewhat more broadly, and it is important for us to have technical solutions allowing to apply the method of fighting against cloning of IMEI codes, including for other devices.”
It was earlier reported that in order to eliminate these problems, the experience of Turkey is being studied, where the method of binding the IMEI code to a specific number is applied, and this doesn’t allow phones with similar IMEI code to operate in the network.
