Iran launches new TMA radars

Strategic project of MSSR and PSR radars has been launched in Iran in the presence of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development on July 21, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The new radars include a wide range of communication systems, navigation, surveillance, safety and security, mechanical, electrical and other airport equipment, fully covering Tehran's Terminal Maneuvering Area (TMA) space and increasing the safety of the flights.

The TMA radars system locating at Kuoshk Bazm in Qom city, which is the center for airport radar installations, is part of a major project covering the entire country's airspace. It includes two PSR and MSSR radars equipped with Mode S technology, the latest in the world in monitoring equipment. Mode S also increases the monitoring accuracy for flights.

All stages of the radars' installation were carried out by the specialists from the Airports and Air Navigation Company of Iran.

TMA refers to a designated area of controlled airspace surrounding a major airport where there is a high volume of traffic.
